Implants

Facing the prospect of losing a tooth can come as a shock, not just for the change to your physical appearance, but also for your future dental health. Gaps in your smile, and the consequent collapse, into the gap, of surrounding teeth are problems that can be avoided with dental implants.

Having two implants done, side by side, by Dr Russell Fine, was the best decision I ever made, regarding what to do after losing two teeth at the same time. The whole procedure took about six months and was completely painless. The partial denture worn in the interim, to fill the gap until the implants were complete, certainly verified my decision to have implants rather than a denture. The denture was large, uncomfortable and induced a gagging effect when worn. My speech was affected, causing a slight lisp, because my palate had been altered by the denture. I now know why a lot of older people have difficulties with their speech and slur their "S's". the new implanted teeth are colour matched to your own teeth, and once in place are indistinguishable from your own. The only difference that can be felt from your own teeth is that the implanted teeth have no feeling. However the freedom of no denture and the fact that these implants do not decay makes the decision of having them very easy. They are an examlpe of modern technology that can greatly benefit you with a product that is so similar to the real thing - your own teeth!!
